IMPORTANT HARMONY NOTE (9 AUG 2008)

As of a few days ago Harmony users may experience trouble with their remotes. Harmony has updated the firmware to certain remotes that has caused them to function errantly. This is not a ps3toothfairy issue but affects many devices controlled by the remote. Harmony support has indicated an updated firmware will be made available in the next few days. For more information please refer to the Harmony Support Forums. Some of the affected models are 720, 785, 880, 890, 1000, and One.

The problem is that the Harmony firmware always sends two "repeats" of the same command. This will cause a problem when trying to pair/use the ps3toothfairy. However, ALL ps3toothfairy devices have a special alternate pairing sequence thay may work until the Harmony is fixed. First get your PS3 to the screen that asks you to press "Start" + "Enter". Then proceed with the following:

  1. Press / Release ANGLE (soft key)
  2. Press / Release OK (hard key)
  3. Press / Release ANGLE (soft key)
  4. Press / Release START (soft key)
The ps3toothfairy will automatically maintain this for 10 seconds -- usually long enough to pair to the PS3. Note that this may not "work around" this Harmony issue in all cases, but customers have reported success when using it. Once the Harmony firmware is corrected, the ps3toothfairy pairing sequence in the manual will function.

Harmony Setup Instructions

The ps3toothfairy is fully supported by the Logitech Harmony, just use the ps3toothfairy profile, under Game System with DVD / ps3toothfairy. The profile mimics the official PS3 remote as closely as possible -- you will not lose any functionality. For viewing BluRay Discs, you may wish to use the Logitech "Customize Buttons" feature to map a hard key to "Pop Up Menu". The default Harmony key mapping is shown here.
